Combi Boiler

Perfect for smaller properties due to compact sizes
Ideal where there is little or no loft space
No need for a hot water cylinder or cold-water storage tank
No risk of the pipework in the loft freezing
No need for lots of pipework which typically reduces installation costs

A combi boiler, aka a combination boiler, is the quickest way to get heating and hot water on demand. Combi boilers heat the water directly from the mains when you run your tap for your washing up or for your bubble bath. This therefore means that there is no need for a hot water storage cylinder or a cold-water storage tank in the loft or cupboard.

Another plus is that because the hot water is delivered at the mains pressure, this means you can have that powerful shower without needing a separate pump.

System Boiler

Better for homes with more than bathroom
Hot water supply on constant to several taps at the same time
No loft tank needed which therefore frees up loft space
No loft tank eliminates worries about leaks or frost damage
Cheaper and quicker installation due to built in components

A system boiler requires a cylinder because a bit like the Combi boiler the major heating and hot water components are built into the boiler itself but this heated water is then stored in the cylinder. There is also no need for the tank in the loft which is a great option for properties that have little storage space or are wanting to convert the loft.

The system boilers are compatible with solar water heating systems enabling the benefits within the environment as well as lower energy bills.

Regular Boiler

Ideal for homes where there is a lot of water being used at the same time
Also known as a conventional, traditional, heat only system
Perfect for properties with two or more bathrooms
Good system for properties in low water pressure areas
Can work with solar water heating systems

A regular boiler is ideal for properties that already have a traditional system in place linked to a hot water cylinder. This system will need a cold-water storage tank which would typically be in the loft and feeds the hot water cylinder along with separate water tank maintaining the water level of the central heating system.

Generally the best replacement option for an existing older radiator circuit because it may not be able to cope with the higher water pressure which the system and combi boiler provides.
